The Kindness of a Stranger

I meant to post this the other day...but as always, I'm a few days behind. :-)

I was at Winco with the girls last week. I needed to pick up a few things for dinner that night. While I was there I decided to just do a big grocery trip. So I was pushing the cadillac of a double stroller (I should take a picture so you can see the ridiculousness of it) and pulling a cart. The first item on my list was chips so I headed to the chip aisle. So...yeah...that was where I basically scrapped that plan, decided to just get what I needed for dinner and then come back later without the girls. I'm sure I looked like a freight train trying to navigate my way through Winco.

Well, to make a long story even more long, a woman with her 10 month old son Austin stopped me in the aisle and we chatted for a bit. Later as I was checking out she came over and offered to help me out to the car. It was such a sweet gesture and I really did need the help. It made me wonder when the last time it was that I'd helped out a complete stranger like that. Really it was such a small gesture in the grand scheme of things but it will always stand out in my mind because things like that don't happen in our every day lives that often. Hopefully it made me more aware of helping out others when it is obviously needed. I want my girls to grow up being givers and helpers to others. I want them to be aware of how blessed they are in life and to not take it for granted. Children learn by watching their parents so it is my hope that S and I can be that example to our girls.

Here are some unrelated pictures also from last week. I can't believe how big they are getting. They are really filling out. N has been smiling more and more. It's still only occasionally and you can't really predict when but I do see her giving a full blown responsive smile in the next few weeks.

Feeding K

K makes the sweetest gestures when she is being fed. I'm not sure what she was thinking or how she was able to hold her arm up during her whole feeding yesterday but somehow she was. I don't think she was even really awake the whole time. Enjoy the pics!

Saturday Market

How can you not love Saturday Market? The art, the music, the elephant ears. We took the girls downtown over the weekend to give them a glimpse into the lives of their parents B.T. (before twins) It was an adventure as we are not used to navigating our city with two little ones in tow but it actually went really well.

It's amazing how many other twin parents come out of the woodworks when you are out and about. We met about 4 other twin moms and pretty much the first thing out of most of their mouths was "it does get easier". What gave it away...the circles under our eyes, the zombie-like blank stares, the "just rolled out of bed" look?

Also on our journey, we met with an Elvis impersonator (well....sort of) and Jim Hendrix's little brother, Richie. All in all a pretty eventful day.

More Pictures

Here are a few more pictures of the girls. We are settling into a nice little routine. Eating happens every three hours with a little bit of play time and a long nap inbetween. The girls go down for the night between 9 and 10pm. Last night they only woke up once at about 2:30am and then woke up for the day at 6:30am. It was great to get a few extra hours of sleep in there.

Tummy-time with the cute little ruffled outfits that Grammy bought:

Sorry Michele...the hats are still a bit too big but I can't wait till they fit the girls!!! They are so adorable and everyone that sees them, loves them.

Bath Time

We finally broke down and gave K and N their first baths on Monday night. Don't ask why it took us so long to do this. I could blame it on waiting till the belly buttons fell off but really it is so nerve racking to give a teeny tiny little baby a bath. I kept waiting for them to somehow slip through my fingers into the bath water....which of course never happened.

Here are a couple of pics of N. The ones of K didn't turn out so well.
